About Us

Fiberglass Contractors You Can Trust!

  • We are a fully Insured and licensed company
  • With 2 Decades of fiberglass experience, Hot Coat Fiberglass was established in 2005 and expanded into NJ Fiberglass Decks, LLC in 2010 due to continuous growth.
  • NJ Fiberglass Decks, LLC stands behind our work and prides itself on giving its customers, whether builder or homeowner, the best job possible, in a clean and productive manner.
  • In this trade, we have found that our reliability and response time has been our best asset yet.

Servicing Contractors and Homeowners Alike

  • We specialize in both commercial and residential projects, whether it be new construction or fiberglass deck restoration of worn/old, damaged, and/or leaky decks (re-gel coating, fixing cracks, replacing rotted fascia boards, etc.) .
  • We also perform fiberglass shower and utility pan installation and Vinyl railing systems.
  • We will implement and/or sub-contract all necessary work to complete the job.

Why Choose Us?

High quality installation is the most important thing in any construction application.  With that being said our installers are trained to only install under company guidelines which are as follows:

  • Cabinet grade AC plywood, (multi ply, pre sanded, no knots, with exterior glue
  • Azek fascia boards w/kerf cut drip edge, PVC prepped for maximum adhesion
  • Double layer membrane resulting in 3-4oz. coverage in the most critical areas, (ie. flashing points and drip edge).
  • All plywood screwed down.
  • Pre cut fiberglass at shop for your job (Resulting in the best coverage and no mess on your job)
  • Custom 4oz door pan monolithic with deck *(Installed on all jobs, no extra charge, most commonly missed step, resulting in leaks)
  • Meticulously machine sand entire surface (resulting in greatest possible gel coat bond),

Fiberglass Decks

  • Having a fiberglass deck gives you the ability to have a balcony or a flat rooftop, while still having a waterproof living space below.
  • Fiberglass is perhaps the single most effective and longest lasting application for this situation. These flat surfaces along with sufficient pitch for watershed/drainage are ideal situations for fiberglass application. This will keep living space below free from otherwise inevitable water damage.

Shower & Utility Pans

  • Shower Pans: There are many advantages to a fiberglass shower pan. This type of shower pan in now preferred by plumbers, town inspectors, and custom tile/marble setters over the previously used hard to customize and easy to puncture rubber membrane of the past. Fiberglass membranes made their name in the custom shower design market due to their ability to be formed into any custom shower situation like neo–angle showers, 45 degree benches , and even large wet rooms or locker rooms. Fiberglass completes this type of application in a seamless finished product only 1/16 of an inch thick, allows for little to no build out in corners allowing for the best and most reliable finished product
  • Utility Pans: Used to secure a watertight barrier underneath your washer/dryer and/or mechanicals.  This is the preferred option when the location of your utility room is above living space.

Vinyl Railings

Hot Coat Fiberglass installs Vinyl Railing Systems!  These systems have a lifetime guarantee and are totally maintenance free.

  • All standard vinyl railing systems are fabricated in-house by our supplier, which allows us to provide custom railings, competitive pricing and reduced lead times.
  • Our vinyl railings are made from 100% virgin polyvinyl and are reinforced with a system of aluminum for lasting structural integrity.

Fiberglass FAQs

Common deck questions

  • What temperatures can gel coat be applied? a. Our company feels comfortable only gel coating below 75* or in the shade.
  • What temperatures can you fiberglass? a. It is a common misconception that you can only fiberglass when it is warm. We provide our services year around and have had great success.
  • Is a fiberglass door pan necessary? a. YES! The most common reason for leaks is no door pan.
  • Is a fiberglass deck slippery? a. NO. A non slip or non skid additive such as pumice is added directly into the pail of gel coat upon request at no charge. adding the pumice to the pail before being applied ensure that the non skid is evenly distributed throughout the surface as opposed to other company’s methods of throwing un-equally sized sand granules over the surface during application. However accidents do happen, and we can not guarantee no one will slip.
  • How do I clean my fiberglass deck? a. If a fiberglass deck does need to be cleaned we recommend Simple Green TM and a bristled brush either hard or soft. If needed, a power washer can also be utilized up to 1500 psi

Common shower & utility pan questions

  • What is consider a ready shower pan ? a. A shower pan is only ready when the following completed:
  • A curb is installed
  • A drain is installed
  • Blocking is installed between the studs (usually installed 2x8s on edge between the studs, this will allow us to flash up the walls about 6-8".)
*We also offer them with a slight pre slope with AC plywood sub straight or as a fiberglass only option.
**Note that Hot Coat Fiberglass provides a double layer of fiberglass installation on all shower pans.

Owning a professional services company, I can appreciate what great service sounds like and looks like. Pete Mooney and Jessie looked at this job and quickly established themselves by exhibiting the knowledge and experience necessary to give me the comfort that they could do the job – the right way. Throughout the project, Pete kept constant contact letting me know any change in plans and made himself available to answer any questions I had. The work product was awesome. Jessie and Lief took extra time when necessary and this deck looks great. I’d recommend Pete and his team unconditionally.

Sandy H.- Toms River, NJ

I used Pete and his guys for my new deck and balconies and 5x8 master shower. They were professional courteous and neater then any other sub on my new hurricane sandy rebuild. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. As a matter of fact I just called them to put up the railings. My framer recommended them to me ,he said they were the best and they are.

George Shaffer-North Wildwood, NJ

After having another fiberglass deck coating company redo our decks four different times over 6 months, without fixing the problem (Bubbles and alligator cracking), we contacted Hot Coat. They came out and did the job. I let them know there was an issue with the finish, and they responded quickly and eliminated the issue. Great job…Thanks Hot Coat!

Sal & Sue Mazzella- Long Beach Island, NJ

After you completed our deck addition on LBI two years ago, I told you how great it looked. The stairs along the roof line leading to and including the large roof top deck, the wrap around cap along the walls, the pitch toward and including the depressed draining system, and the overall quality of the work was quite impressive.

Now after much use by our entire family of four grown-up children and their kids, I can vouch for the durability of your work as well. Your contribution to the entire addition, which has brought so much enjoyment to our family and friends is most appreciated. Thank you.

Bill Hults-Forked River, NJ

My home is along the shore. The three decks on the house were originally fiberglassed by an unknown contractor who was hired by the general contractor that built the house. The fiberglass job lasted only five years before it began to crack and chip away. A friend of mine, who is a builder, recommended that I contact Peter Mooney from Hot Coat Fiberglass for an evaluation and quote. Mr. Mooney responded and came to my home. He examined the damage from the former job and told me what needed to be done. Within a couple of days I received a proposal from Hot Coat Fiberglass, which not only provided the cost, but outlined the scope of work, included the needed repairs, the sanding and re-finishing, the regel-coating of all surfaces, and even the installation of new Azek fiberglass fascia boards. He and his crew arrived on the date promised, and worked the better part of the week until the job was done. Mr. Mooney and his men were courteous and professional at all time and did an outstanding job. I would recommend them to anyone in need of fiberglass deck repair, or to anyone involved with new construction and in need of fiberglass decks.
